Abdu Mulaasi Audio Playlist

Ugandan musician Abdu Mulaasi also known as the Farm Manager is to-date still one of the top stage performers in the country regardless of him not trending.

Born in 1979 in Lwabenge – Masaka district, the KadongoKamu maestro crooner started his music career at the age of 16 after quitting the then National Resistance Army forces as a Kadogo (child soldier).

In the year 1997, Abdu Mulaasi settled in Nakawuka town – a suburb in Kampala city with his uncle. During day, Mulaasi would help his uncle in his brick laying project and at night he would then dawdle from bar to bar just like any other uprising and struggling determined musician.

In 1998, he released about 4 songs including Muyige Okunaaba, Engombo Yabawulu, Akawuna, Mpereeza SMS and Ebbere, but none of them was a success.

Early 2001, Mulaasi released a song titled “Omusono Gwa Mungu” – which became a country wide anthem. “Omusono Gwa Mungu” song took him to every spot of the country and his fans later nick named him “Rasta Smart” due to his urban dress-code that actually wasn’t related to the music genre he was doing.

Between 2001 and 2007, Abdu Mulaasi was among the top 5 male artists in Uganda with annual hits. Some of his biggest songs include: Swimming Pool, Ngenda Kusiba Farm, Ekyaapa, Obuffumbo Bwa Liizi, Best Man, Enkulu Tenywa, Ekyebeeyi Ku Mukazi, Fakumudaala Gwo etc.

Having got so many music followers and fans, Abdu Mulaasi travelled to the US where he held over 10 concerts and all of them were successful – a thing that prompted other event organisers in Asia, Europe, Canada and the Caribbean to book him since he was the hottest cake by then But seriously, what made Abdu Mulaasi’s music curve to plunge? We’re told, in mid 2010 after his USA tour, Abdu Mulaasi teamed up with East Africa’s finest Jose Chameleone with whom he wanted to do a song with.

Chameleone turned down his request but advised him to exchange songs and swap composition.

This prompted Abdu Mulaasi to switch from KadongoKamu to Ragga music – a genre that his millions of fans never appreciated nor expected from him.

He released ragga songs that included: Tukoza Loooo, Tuzzine Vaawo, Abemidomo, Its Me and House Man which fall on deaf ears to the music lovers who has supported him for over a decade.

When Abdu Mulaasi returned to Uganda after 2 months abroad, thousands of his fans had already abandoned him for fresh talents.

Mulaasi tried his best to resurrect his career but all in vain. The number of concerts lowered down, and he ended up chocking on debts – a thing that dismantled his female farm Between the year 2011 and 2015, Abdu Mulaasi switched back to his original music style hence releasing songs like “Ompadde Love, Obukko Bwokulubuto, Nzigaddewo Farm, Doctor Wabakazi, Ekiba Bakazi etc but all failed to give him a green light till now.

Since then, Abdu Mulaasi has tried to also alternate his names from Rasta Smart to Papa Africa to Jajja but this has not helped him revivify his career probably a reason as to why one uprising singer Baby Deo dedicated him a song called “Deal Y’omwana” – in which he stings Mulaasi for rowing the KadongoKamu boat wagon on the shores of the once respected genre.
